An acquaintance has a 1917 D obv walker xf40 pcgs that is really nice for the grade. Do you guys have any ball park number for a fair price?

I'd highly recommend creating a Heritage Account. It's free and there is a wealth of information there.

I see that the last PCGS XF 40 Obv Mintmark sold for $282 in 2017.
An XF 45 (probably negative eye appeal) sold for $264 in 2018.
An AU 53 (NGC) sold for $336 May 14, 2019 (more recent sale of something similar).

Currently the greysheet number is $225 for XF 40 (also shown on Heritage).

You can look through the various examples and add in eBay sales to get a decent idea of the going rate.

    These numbers make sense. Thanks!

These early walkers are very challenging to collect!

I hope to get closer to completing the set when I go the ANA show in August. The Early Walker dates are hard to find in semi decent condition.

I am not sure about the XF 40.
The reverse seems a solid VF+ but the obverse is less. (30/15)
I might be closer to 20-25 on this.

It was also a Cac approved xf40

Also, the early walkers have a weaker strike, and yes I am being overly defensive.
