    Hey WX,
I spent over 2 decades in the Corps and drank scotch the entire tour. Just a short list of where!
Shanghai 56,Hong Kong 56-7,Saigon 63,Iwakuni 63-4, Adak 63-4. and thats just the PAC theater. The Atlantic I forgot them all except Haifa 78.
I had a stroke 5 years ago and thats whats keeping me alive, who woulda thought??
I prefer Ballantine 25 yr. only, neat.
    Take care

Nice! Thanks for your service. Vietnam was winding down by the time I was draft eligible.

You raised your right hand to write a check and our Uncle cashed it with your butt.
Thats all that matters, so thank you for your time in service to our country.

    Aloha,
Fellow coinismatist ( not right ??) WTH at my age and stupid ehough to recognise a belt buckle, ahh anyway welcome.
I love the islands, Uncle Sam asked me to visit Hickam, Marshals, Naha and a few others I can't pronounce.
One night in Lahaina, I got a we bit tipsy and told a Samoan where to go and he sent me there by air. I was a lean mean muscle machine keenly trained by our Uncle and learned a great lesson. Do Not Underestimate them or overestimate me.
    Anyway welcome.

    Dude,
Hey, you just made my day, The last time I was addressed as Gyrene and described as jarhead was in the late 70s. Actually it brought up a lot of memories of my fellow Marines. This is the one thing I miss, is the fellowship of brothers.
You my friend I consider as the same, a Navy corpsman is why I am still here and I pray for you guys every night.
Enough, I'm gonna get choked up if I continue.
I have two buddys left from my time in. We talk every week and I feel at home even though I have been married 57 years (same gal) and my home is in Ca. 47 yrs.
Its great jawing with you and take care Navy (Da** Swabby) Ha. gotcha.
BTW my Uncle served with Nimitz in 41 on the Wasp.
    My best

Thanks for your service. My father was Air Force football left my knees in no shape to pass a physical as it was a thought of mine when I graduated high school. Started a business instead. But have the greatest respect for those who keep America free as to the Morgan scratched cleaned au

Thanks, Jarhead. To be considered a “brother” by a Marine is an honor. Even if we gave you a hard time on our ships. lol. I was on the USS Saratoga, CVB-60, before, and during Desert Storm. We ferried many Gyrenes to Saudi Arabia, and a number of you guys in F14s. Got scudded a few times in the Red Sea, but my particular tour had no pilot fatalities, thank goodness. I was an OOD, and Weapons officer. Oorah to you, once again.

Try to get some undamaged Morgans. There are so many nice ones that don’t have belt buckle rash. 1895s is a brutal date to find a clean coin, for reasonable money.

After many years of considering differing points of view about where and with what outfit a guy or gal served with. I have come to the conclusion that its not of particular importance. What rises above all is and you have to ask yourself. "Do you have a fire in your belly and are you willing to give it all up for America when she calls". quote from Major General Chesty Puller U.S.M.C..
My point is many folks don't give a da** about this country and thats between them and their maker.
All of those of us who care as I have stated above is all that is really important. Now I'll get down of my soap box and go back to bed,all this preaching is tiring.
Thanks for reading this Guys and Gals

@jgrinz mentioned rim damage in post #7. Remember to read the entire thread before responding.

I agree with everyone on the scratches, not a DMPL and not gradeable, but...

...although I see the scratches, I don't see the circular marks of it being whizzed. I defer to our expert Morgan Masters when they say to take a hard pass, but is it the lighting that is hiding the whizzing? Are there other indications on the coin that constitute whizzing?

And where on the coin are the "tooling" indications? Please help me find them on the coin.

And, there are too many contact marks in the fields and I especially don't like the smoothed hairlocks, to me it seems wear...enough to say it would render it AU DETAILS, and thereby not worth sending off.

...trying to match words/terms to their manifestations on the coin.

    Thanks in advance...Spark

There are no bargains on property graded 1895-S dollars. If you want one worth having, make sure it is graded by PCGS or NGC.
