My old eyes say DMPL64 but before I have the "Experts' grade it I thought someone here could advise. M1
I agree. Pass on this one. Lots of face scratches, and hits. Maybe, if you can get it for F-12 money. But, I'd pass.
This coins condition makes me believe it was a belt buckel piece....then whizzed or tooled to try and save a lost.cause....it is a problem coin even at f 12 money it is a loss! One the "now owner" or present ....want's to make go away.....yes a 95s is a key coin but a key that has issues as this does one needs to walk away.
Something just looks off to me, the mouth and nose area look wrong. Definitely not a gradable coin especially with all the scratches and 'graffiti' and rim damage. Definitely not a 64 and not a PL sorry OP
Yep that cheek graffiti kills all value in the coin. TPGs might say it damaged, cleaned, details. Meow would definitely not grade that coin.
It will be a “no grade” situation if you send it to a reputable TPG. There are intentional marks on the cheek and the fields look unnatural as if they have been smoothed. I have seen 1895-S dollars with P-L or semi P-L fields, but this pieces looks odd.
Pity. It's also a VAM 4 (S/Horizontal S). It would probably have to be worn down to VF before it would grade, given all those scratches.
Damaged, scratched, and ungradeabe as well. Looks cleaned also. A disaster coin. Why was that date not slabbed previously? Answer—because nobody would grade it. Looks like a Great Southern Coins set of pix.
Hi Dude, As a follow up I sent the coin back with a note that it looked like a belt buckle Tom Mix wore in the 40s. After he got finished cussin me out he chided me for saying it was a 1940 instead of a 1895 and how did I know the name of the owner meaning "Tom Mix". After I got finished laughing I went and changed my shorts. This clown must have been a 22 year old Professor at Harvard !! "No offense Harvard grads". Personally I don't smoke the funny stuff. M1
