Doubled date, mint, and possibly Liberty.
Also a ridge under "In God We Trust".
How do I authenticate, thus determining the value?

without pictures we can't help much. I will say this though, your coin is not actually doubled. It probably suffers from DDD; Die deterioration doubling.

sounds like die deterioration doubling creating a ridge ring.

But pictures are better than words ...

^^ as furryfrog said .. he beat me to it. LOL

    worn/overused dies

A common effect on most denominations nowadays.

Reverse photo? Is this a CAM or a WAM? Nice looking coin btw.

Thank you folks for your input.

I'm new to this, so please forgive my ignorance.
Can anyone explain how JUST the date (and/or mintmark) can be doubled, while everything else remains perfect?

Also, after further investigation, this is a wide A M, which I believe would make it one of the varieties the Mint toyed with using Proof dies for circulation coins. That would certainly help explain it's great look.
In addition, some of the lettering around the rim on the reverse are 'flattened'.Other than that, the rest of the coin is struck real well.
