I came across this barber the other day while working on my collection. It has a circular mark that goes straight through the coin. Above the head on the face and near where the mark would be on the back. I am not having any luck finding information on this and am curious if anyone knows anything about it. Thanks

that is what i assumed when i first came across it but there is no hole and it is raised on both sides around the "hole" wear and coloration is all uniform.

Holed then plugged and worn down over time.

I'll guess someone once used it for a fishing sinker

    Former piece of jewelry.
Someone drilled a hole in it and wore it on a chain. Or something similar.

They must have been biting, or real hungry.
