    Hi Guys,
I intend to purchase this coin and the seller says there is DDO. I can see DDR, but not DDO. I'm not sure about it. Can you, experts, help me?
    What do you all think?
    All comments will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    The pictures are only these.

Obverse has a slight DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling.. Worthless doubling.
I really don't see any doubling on the Reverse.
    Stay away IMHO

Agreed both sides are DDD. Don't buy off of these apps nowadays especially if you haven't studied variety's. These platforms allow folks to be rip off artists. Buy in hand and only if you know what you are looking at.

Worthless doubling on the obverse. Not even a poor mans Doubled Die let alone the real thing.

I've never heard of doubling on the reverse of a 1955.

Avoid this coin and this seller.

Thank you all - VERY MUCH. I confess that I was impressed with this coin, but is nothing what I expected.

a real 1955 DD is quite expensive and one of those coins that I would only buy Slabbed and from a reputable dealer.

I got one from a coin show. Expect to pay $800+ (if they are itchy for cash) and higher .. but that was a few years ago.

There are minor variants though such as a FS-103 DDO (on the date) / 801 DDR (e pluribus unum) which has fatter-doubled letters, not the distinct 1955 DD that everyone recognizes. I don't really see it on yours.
Obverse ==> http://www.varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1955PDDO004.htm
Reverse ==> http://www.varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1955PDDR004.htm

There's others too .. that's why I asked which ones ?? as they may think 006 .. but it's our guess, not their info. Seller should know specifics of what the are selling, if they don't, then RUN

The best I can do is RUN :D
The seller says only "DOUBLED DIE on number 5" and "The coin is original". Another pic is that

like I put in post #5
    http://www.lincolncentresource.com/FAQ/Poormansdoubleddie.html

but that example isn't there yet comparatively ..
it's just someone wanting to make money on something that is "kinda similar" though not "exactly".

and with them stating DDO/DDR with no specifics ... just RUN.

That is known as the Poor Mans Doubled Die. And it barely shows on that coin. Should be about $5.00 to $7.00. RUN!!

Looks more like the date took a hit or two, not DD.

I don't even think the poor man's DD is worth that much.
People may have paid that much, but it's not worth anything.

I am no expert, closer to a novice in this area. But it appears the obverse is clearly a "poor man's doubled die," and not a very strong one, and has little or no value to most collectors. I spent quite a few in my early years of collecting and don't regret it. I think I see evidence of slight doubling on the N of UNITED on the reverse. From the picture I can't tell if it is a real doubled die, a die deterioration doubled die, a stain, a shadow, or merely my imagination. But even if it is real, it is so slight that I would think it would have very little value.

I wish I could make a life of it. Go live off the grid.:) One day, I am sure I will be missing Ya'll.
By the way the doubling that is seen on the Reverse is best seen in NUM.
It also has shelf like doubling is seen best on the N of UNITED.
