I am on the prowl for a nice looking 1953-S quarter, and I think I found one I like enough to call my own. In the process of the search, though, I came across this particular example, and thought I'd share it with Washington Quarter lovers, and those with a keen eye for toned beauties. Enjoy! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-S-25C...416762&hash=item4b64c5f167:g:bgEAAOSwNVhc5DvJ No, I bought another that was a few thousand less.
Wow. The reverse of the coin is really pretty. Strong price. pinnaclerarities are great folks. Not in my budget.
Meow would agree, the reverse is very nice. The obverse is a little to muddy for Meow's taste. And the price...…………….Meow would rather have a real nice used car for that kind of money.
I’m confused. The seller bad mouths the 1953-S stating that it’s not the rarity of the year in high grades and that the D and P are, also states how there are several toned beauty S out there and still lists it at 23,000?? Ok
There are other sellers out there with similarly toned early fifties quarters for as much money. IIRC I saw a '54 for almost exactly the same asking price; don't recall where or whether it was D, S or P, though. I'm with the poster who'd rather spend that kind of money on a car. I can be just as happy with a nice AU '53-S like the one I bought for $8.77. I need to be thinking about one of those electric cars anyway.
I'm not a person for toned coins though. Maybe once I see one that really appeals to me I will be. 23 THOUSAND dollars is not going to get a buyer. If anything, send in an offer with something more reasonable. That's probably what they're expecting.
