I did not see anything about it on the Mint's website, so my guess is hoax. Anyone else confirm or deny? Or, I have been away from collecting for quite a while, did I miss something?

 

I agree with the guy that left a comment. I don't think its true. Its a April fools joke.

 

I also noticed that their Schedule Update today lists the (W) AGEs as Proofs. Duh!

Is funny that the mint director would announce something like that without Congress giving the ok. April Fools.....

 

It was only stated that we will no longer make the cent. However, since our government is now oursourcing the production of our passports to other countries, they are now going to oursource the production of our coins. First is the cent. China will be able to produce our cents for about 1/1,000 of what it cost us due to they will use all fake metals, fake moulds, fake dies and even deliver in fake trucks.
Just a word of caution. Our new coins will contain Lead.

 

Will they eventually do this though?
