I have a 1977 penny that clearly has the letter "J" imprinted above the year and I thought the mint mark was a messed up P but from information I have found there isn't a Philadelphia mint for this coin....am I wrong? Please help...any information is greatly appreciated
Might be a rare variety of the 1977D Pacman error - only two available https://www.etsy.com/listing/685248...50yydW_rHXeC1IScWPqA8IkgmezrxXO8aApK-EALw_wcB
Seriously? It's damaged. You can see the hit on the rim. The seller is also the person that discovered this and he has not 1 but 2 of them available.
Just damage. Either the coin was dinged and it happens to look like a J or it was punched with a J punch. Worth one cent.
There is such a thing as a Cheerios Cent.. Maybe this was an Apple Jacks Cent!.. "A is for Apple, J is for Jacks"
