I was wondering. I have a few straps of 5's. Think this is anything worth putting on ebay.??????? Does the bep charge a premium for a strap of $500 in new 5's??? Thanks for the advice
not sure, but unless the straps you have are stars, gem cu or some other device that would command a premium... i doubt you could sell them for much over face.. even IF the BEP charges a premium, dont mean you can the only thing that might help bring a premium is if all the notes are consecutive... good luck
well, i would say you might sell them for a slight premium .. but enough to cover Ebay/Paypal expenses .. i dont know.
how did u get them?. i went to the bank for the fifth time today and they said they dont have it. if there is a trick i certainly would like to know. i am looking for a packed bundle of unc $5 100 notes all consecutive. thanks
50 profit at that level would barely IF at all cover all the expenses. $50 on $500 is only 10%... between Ebay and Paypal, fees could easily go higher.
dont see them grabbing to much of a premium yet. we havent had any problems getting $5's at my branch. we have gotten 3 full bricks of $5000 each so far. we still have quite a few full straps. if i had the extra cash i would probably grab some. so for now i just have been looking for star notes at this point find out when the bank you go to gets there shipment. get to know the vault teller and have them just order the $5's for you. tell them you have some sort of business and tell them its for change or something. we order money for businesses all the time. i know where i am in south fla, all banks received new shipments of $5's a few weeks ago so they would start to be in circulation.
I think it's through april 4, all orders for $5's will be filled with the new colorized notes, then they revert back to normal policy for filling orders. As it appears that there are still alot of H series notes that have not circulated yet, it's possible that there will be a brief shortage of new $5 for the average collector and they may command a small premium for a brief time. It's all just speculation though.
These days it's more common to see full straps of star notes, but it's still possible to get a few stars mixed into a strap of regular notes, yes.
They are meant to circulate so I would roll aruond in them before spending. Thinking we'll all be seeing them soon enough. Stars or low serial numbers I'd keep. Check for radars, ladders etc. Seriously though I might keep a few but spend the rest. clembo
