Looking at some of the sellers otheritems are near equally as laughable. He's got more tooled items for sale then Tim Allen having a garage sale!
What's particularly "impressive" is that their enhanced images also greatly intensify the look of the green corrosion.
I suppose I would "let" mine go for that. Just need to get a slab Then again a MS64 would only probably go for $14.75.
This episode reminds me of the XF Athenian tetradrachm that hammered for $30,000 in a Heritage Auction because the NGC slab said it was "choice uncirculated" or something to that extent. The slab made a $2000 coin increase in value by $28,000. That's some precious resin NGC must be using on their ancients slabs.
The sad part is that I believe the bidders are genuine. I compared the first and last letter of the 6 bidders (the info eBay shows you) and I don't see a pattern when looking at the 89 items the store has sold over the last 6 months. I think someone is genuinely bidding to pay $1475 on this coin. I've looked at the eBay page over the last day and I still can't believe what I'm seeing .But here it is folks. No matter how many times I've refreshed, it is no glitch.
Yep, it's official now. Some gullible collector with more money than sense now has a new coin. I hope he joins this forum so we can have a good laugh at his expense.
I can't believe a collector paid $1475 for that. It must be a shill bidding scam. That type is common and inexpensive in nice shape. I'd prefer this one at $25.
Very depressing to see this. That's all I can say at this point. I'm going to put a FEL TEMP REPARATIO on Ebay for $999. You guys will bid on it, right?
