I picked a different coin and posted a pick in the acquisitions thread and my type set thread.

Their pictures certainly aren't doing that one any favors.

I’m really surprised at the bean. It’s dipped blast white

blast white coins can get beans when warranted. You can basically bet that one will look better in hand than the picture

Concur the coin looks dipped. I’d have passed as well.

I think the coin you chose blows that one out of the water... well done, Scott.

That coin went for $700 plus auction fee and shipping.

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

Way overdipped, verging on a details coin.

Since this one appears to show a lot of luster, wouldn't dipping reduce luster?

Not when it is properly done. If left in too long then yes.

Plenty of luster on that coin, just unflattering over-lit pictures for that listing.

I thought it was kind of crazy to go for $700 plus auction fees of 12.5% and shipping.

Like the one you bought way better

Yeah some of the coins on great collections have what I think are lousy pictures. I like the one bought better, but not sure those are accurate either. The toning maybe even darker.

I actually thought that was about right if not low from the lousy pictures. 58+ is almost certainly the hardest plus grade to get as it's basically like saying we think this could be a 63/64 but are playing it safe.

Agreed, I'd rather they just shoot the coin to show the luster and what it would look like in hand instead of over lighting it to try and show every minuscule mark that you need to blow the coin up to a dinner plate to really notice anyways
