Nice set! I saw so many scuzzy and worn war nickels as a kid, I've acquired a great appreciation for them in mint condition.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

If I say the words "nice set" at the wrong time, I'll be sent to sexual harassment retraining.

That's a very nice set - reminds me that I have a similar one sitting around that needs to be imaged:

It's also about that time where I send my bulk submission of Jeffs to NGC...

Well, the grades were not bad, but not a single full stepper, + grade, or * grade which was a little disappointing.

I'm thinking about putting them into a registry set just to see how they would rank.

Nice set! I have looked these sets from time to time and have always passed on them. Although there were a couple of good coins, too often there have been too many sliders and problem coins to make it even a fair deal. Most dealers, if they buy a nice set, will cherry pick the good coins, replace them with junk, and sell the set at a “bargain” Greysheet level. I have yet to run into a decent set like this offered raw.

The problem is that people try to sell these sets for ridiculous prices. This is the first set I have ever found where almost all of the coins were premium gem and they were still priced at $10 per coin. I'm thinking about searching for some gem untoned war nickels from each date/mm and placing them back in this holder to see if they develop some nice toning after a few years.

I just took all the coins from this set along with the two replacements for the coins that weren't worth grading and created an NGC Registry set.

You purchased a very nice collection! Each one a gem in it's own right.
