    Hello everyone,

I've got a couple sets of Jeffies, but they're in "average" condition. I've recently set a goal to try to do a AU/BU set. Up till now, all my coins came from my boyhood collection and e-bay. E-Bay is fine for partial collections, but very, very expensive for individual coins.

Last week, I went to my local coin dealer and cracked open his folder of 2x2's. I think the last time someone had opened it was about 1980. He only had about 20 AU/BU coins - I bought all the BU ones - 7 in total.

So I've dried up my source. I know I can do e-bay. But are there any dealers on the Internet that sell coins < $3 and have shipping that is less than a couple gallons of gas?

    Thanks

I am in the same boat as you. I have been to about every single coin shop in my area looking for unc. Jeff's. But what I have ssen at the coin shpos I would never buy, WAY overpriced. Actually I have seen way better bargins on ebay. Most of the online stores I have visited don't show pictures of the coin, and don't respond to your emails asking for pictures.
So the conclusion I have come to for myself is: just relax, this could take awhile and while I'm waiting for "that" coin to show up, I'll be reading up On Jeffersons.
A very unpopular set, dealers can't crowd floor space with coins that no one wants.

    nickel source

I'm relatively new here, but I'd be willing to help you out if you like. I'm somewhat of a nickel hoarder, and I've got just about every date in AU/BU.

(If solicitation is prohibited by forum rules, I apologize. I read the FAQ and didn't see any rules on it.)

If you would prefer a commercial source, I found a few out there. One is Ray Komka. I have never done any business with him, but I believe his site is a reputable one, and his prices seem reasonable.

I also found another source, but I know absolutely nothing about them. Their prices seem a bit higher: hausercoins.com.

Village Coin Shop seems to have a decent variety too:

The best place is, of course, a local coin show, but I realize many places don't have one nearby. Good luck!

I can vouch for Komka coins. I bought several old proof nickels and have been very satisfied.

Jefferson Nickels are extremely desired. They are just not around like they used to be. Dealers are not willing to sell them cheap (reasonable). All i see at shows are overpriced graded ones.

I know the feeling I build a ton of sets and the cheap coins just do not make it to the shows since the cost of tables cost too much and it is a lot of weight to lug around.
