Just picked 6 of these up in a local grocery store. When the automated cash register spit 3 of these out in change - I bought something else just to get three more. I like the looks - when I stopped at a bank afterwords the teller told me is getting mixed reviews. Some people told her the big purple 5 is gaudy and looks stupid. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/NewFiveFace.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/NewFiveReverse.jpg Best Regards, Darryl
I'm jealous, all I can get around here are New York notes, and I'm in the Chicago District. (Of course it doesn't help that they probably haven't printed any Chicago notes yet)
Hello Darryl... I as well saw some of these the past few days here in Phillie. I had plans for the Rosemont show but was assigned to the Phillie Interphex show. Sitting in the Phillie Airport at the moment....waiting to go home. Been a long week! The purple is not so bad and I really like the face of the note. RickieB
yeah we received them at my branch 2 weeks ago. i grabbed 10 consecutive. i am still trying to find some star notes.
they are very different from what we are used to, yes, but not anythign like what they will be doing in the years to come!
you didnt come it would be great if you were there i didnt have the desire to look at amaerican notes without you
Hey Spock... I am really sorry I did not make it! I was assigned to the Interphex BioPharmaceutical Conference in Phillie all this week. I had to cancel my reservations to Chicago and I was bummed out about that for sure! I will be there next year no doubt! RickieB
so the sealed bundles from the fed should be fresh from the mint. so for $250 i could have 50 brand spankin new notes. and all there numbers would be sequential right? might have to make a run to the bank. now i just need to find where to put this.
keep your tea/lunch schedule open we will have lunch and or tea together. are you coming for the central states or cicf you missed lyn knights auction too.
if u r going tat route get the whole bundle it will cost u 500 but might pay off in the future (read 50 years)
I like them and I agree with RickieB - The design on the front is nice! You have my interest Daggarjon - what are they doing in the future? Darryl
I would have to look at past Numismatic news to remember exactly .. but i remember the article talking about polymer notes, but more likely a linen/polymer hybrid... some of the possible inclusions were holographic images imbedded in the notes as well. I dont remeber everything that was talked about, but i do remember it was cool stuff! I do remember, that alot of the items talked about as being possible, the US was kind of hesitant with.. but those same features were being used by other countries around the world. I also remember, i think, that they were going to try incorperating some of these advanced features into the new $100 ....
Thanks - I'm not real fond of the polymers - hope they feel more like the paper/cotton money we have now!
i have a few polymers from a few different countries. I like them. But, i dont use them every day either ... im not sure if i would like them so much if i had to use them! Plus i like them more for the designs, not for the feel.
