Gloves are not necessary when handling coins. In fact, gloves can make it more difficult to hold a coin increasing the chances of dropping the coin.

I agree, gloves aren't necessary. But clean, dry hands are. I suspect they have that down to a science.
are you aware that your hands are acidic? i dont buy the non glove story. if you have rare manuscripts and you touch them with hands you might as well tear them. its crazy the explaination from pcgs
Not really, no professional grader ever wears gloves. For that matter, no dealer I have ever seen does either.
i know but itss till crazy any curator worth their salt will tell you that hands are acidic by nature
Wearing gloves is just a scam. The makers of those white devils just use that acidic hogwash to get you to use them when handling coins. Since the demise of the traffic cop, they have been desperate for business.
so apprently the curators are just a bunch of idiots who get to conserve manuscripts worth millions and if you think those are the same gloves that traffic police wear then i have nothing more to say to you
that wasnt the point the point was that acid is part of the hand and if acid will affect a coin you can come to your own judgement regarding that
Gloves are for the unwashed masses, apparently the professionals at PCGS don't need them. They can clean coins too... seeing a trend here? Edited: *sarcasim*
I've handled every coin in my collection a thousand times without using gloves, on the edges, of course, and somehow I haven't ruined a single one yet. Funny how that works. Guy~
