So I was going through my half dimes this morning, and noticed this....it is a repunched date however not either of the 2 known varieties. The 001 and 002 are the only two rpds for 1858. This one does show simular pups as to both known ,002 is the inverted 1858 over date. So now I will have to have it attributed to see if it's a discovery coin. Have a look all digits show signs of the repunch, as well artifacts within and between the numbers. Have a look.... The 1 flag and foot shows signs of a repunch, the first 8 upper loop also shows signs, the small dash between the 8-5 , the 5 and second 8 also signs of repunched. So I sort of cherry picked myself today as this was a coin I purchased years ago and for the most part forgot to check her out.
I hope it turns out to be a discovery coin. Have you found an inverted date yet? I recall you were looking for one.
No not yet....but still searching raw 58 's at every opportunity. Will most probably end up buying one ,but would rather hunt it down by cherry picking one.
