A barrel of reasonably intelligent monkeys can grade as consistent as some of these TPGs. And before I get bashed for that statement, just remember, I'm qualifying it on reasonably intelligent monkeys, not dumb monkeys.

@Insider I can read your posts just fine and happy that you aren't falling into the young'ins hype about doing things their way. It's your process not theirs.

Seems to me that the value/market grading system used today cannot have a bound set of rules. Seems that grading today is more about imbalance than it is stability. It is not surprising to see this especially with traded company's. The way coins are graded is more or less their personal "Trade Secrets". Updating their standards would/could even the playing field. The problem is that the TPG's do not want to be held to standards. Standards do not pay the bills, they do not invoke resubmission. And by far it does not help those of us who just want an honestly graded coin. A graded coin that is supposed to be subject to the written standards of said company.

This seems to be more of a fight about honestly graded coins VS getting top $ for a coin. Those who just want a coin in a slab to protect it so that their heirs can liquidate it in the future. And someone who is looking for a quick profit. For a quick profit I am going to go to the company that over grades, the one that has the buyers in their pocket. The sad thing is those company's that do grade closer to the Sheldon scale never get the $ in the end. It truly is a battle with in yourself to choose between the strict TPG, the $ TPG, and the cabinet.

I see no difference in the way you need to respond, and if so you need to find a shoulder to wipe your tears.
Because you don't like his way of posting, you bash who he is as a professional in the business? It's sad that you would stoop so low.

I didn’t bash him at all, I simply pointed out that he doesn’t have the ability to learn what everyone else considers a very simple skill and extrapolated that this inability to learn may not be confined to posting on Internet forums.

Speaking of stooping low, would you respond to any other member of this forum other than baseball with this silly crap? But hey, I’ve never doubted your trolling skills.

I'm going to see if this works:

Thanks, but Big Money agrees with the other three members. She says I have OCD.

This may be a little harsh. I don't feel that anyone wrote anything out of line.

Thanks, I'll try a few new things.

I am an eccentric person. I do everything my way if I think it is better. It takes me a lot more time to post as I do in order to make my comments "crystal clear" to ... ah, others.

I may not change all of my replies. Now let's get back to coins!

Possible Solution: One member has put me on "ignore" for the way I post. I suggest anyone else who does not like it do the same.

I hear what you are saying but the feedback that I’m giving you is that the steps you are taking to make your comments “crystal clear” are actually hurting your ability to communicate with some of us.

I have never used the ignore function and will not use it with you, I value your opinions too much.

    As I value yours too!

Big Money (wife) agrees with you. I was tempted to start a poll on the way I post with two options: change or stay the same. We had a good laugh but I thought better of it as CT IS NOT ABOUT ME! (or the three + members that are complaining).

You're not on explicitly on ignore, just effectively on ignore because if I can't make heads or tails of what you are trying to say I stop reading and move on to the next post.

I was enjoying this post but how about keeping to "Principles before Personalities". No need to trash each other.

That's all fine and dandy it is your way of doing things.:) It's not my place to tell you to do things different. As this topic has come up many times before.

It is things like this that get me a little riled up, and it is used all to often in back and forth banter on subjects. Especially having to do with the top two TPG's.
Call it nothing, but this is a tactic used when they feel cornered, Simply because they can't eat what they usually dish out.

Carry on, I will call this one my bad.

All of us on Coin Talk should consider ourselves EXTREMELY LUCKY to be able to post comments about the TPGS's without fear of being banned...and also having the option to post in color!

Yes, but the flip side of that is it also results in a lot of misinformation from people shooting at the hip so to speak

No, it results in the truth coming out, and decades old misinformation being countered ;)

I imagine "she says" a lot. The question my friend is how often do you listen ? And if and when you do, is it often enough ? The wisdom of the fairer sex is sometimes underestimated and often overlooked ;)

Now here's a thought for ya. Just imagine what might happen if she and I sat down and talked for a couple of days :jawdrop: :D

I have been debating subjects like this on this forum for over a decade, including the topic we are discussing in this thread. You are the first person in 11 years to claim that I shirk from a debate. My problem with Insider's posting style is a legitimate complaint (Big Money agreed). He makes exceedingly long posts that are impossible to respond to using the quote function because he doesn't use the quote function himself. When I have access to a computer, I can use HTML tags to clean up his post and make a response that others can understand. When I am out of town, like I am most weekends, and I only have access to my iPhone, it is impossible to respond to his posts. My comment about his inability to learn new things alluded to the fact that he seems to still agree with the antiquated grading practices that pre-dated the TPGs despite the fact that he is a top grader at one of them. I have levied the same accusation at Doug and many other elderly members of the forum his seem to be stuck in the past with regards to grading.

And what is your contribution to this thread? Every single post of yours is either directed at me or a blatant attempt to troll me. Then, when your troll attempt was debunked by the person I was actually talking to, you double down with your attack, followed by a parting apology in a very week attempt to sound magnanimous.

You are guilty of exactly what you are accusing me of doing, that is called projection.
