Is this 1847 Braided Hair Large Cent cleaned? It is listed as F-VF.

Looks like an aged cleaning, not recent.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

I can't tell from the photos if it has been cleaned or not.

My blunt assessment: Pass. Although for some reason 1847s are tough to find nice, you can do better.

Possibly cleaned years ago. VG/F. If YOU like it buy it...if it makes you happy.

i normally do not comment on copper, but i agree w/ previous assessments. the coin was cleaned and arizona jack is correct w/ his pvc comment. if you have a choice, i would pass on this coin for a nicer specimen. even at a bargain price, you will do better. only my own very humble opinion...steve

hard to tell. Obverse looks good, but the reverse looks like might have been cleaned in the past. Don't know about PVC damage. I haven't seen enough examples of PVC damage yet. Nice year. It's the year the pioneers settled in the Salt Lake Valley here in Utah. Way cool when you think of the history that that coin was around in its time.
