A question on circulation

Wow -I just checked the Euro/Quarter set at the Mint and it does appear to still be available ....from the Mint?? How many sets did they issue -does anyone know? My thoughts on the Legacies of Freedom were due in part to the limited number to be issued coupled with the fact that a commoner can not purchase an un SE from the mint (proof only) and both are silver coins, not to mention the only dual world power in existance.

While it is quite true that collectors are unable to buy uncirculated Eagles from the mint, they are readily available on the market. With this set in question, the only advantage will be in the mint package. If that is worth the price...... Don't let mintage figures alone guide you. There are a great number of modern commemoratives that have low mintages that are selling for less than issue price. Consider why you would be purchasing a set. If it is for strictly for profit, well that subject is well played out here in this forum.

 

Euro-quarter sets?

Any idea wHat happened to the Euro-quarter sets? -it looks like the Mint is still making them available? It's interesting why that idea didn't take off -which is maybe why they are only producing 50K vs 100K of the Euro sets I mentioned. In fact these latter are selling on Ebay for less than what the Mint sold or is selling them for !

 

ANy one know how to make this "quick reply" box appear -sometimes I see it available and other times I don't -haven't figured out the site mechanicals yet -and where'd those smiley faces go when you need one

 

That in itself might make this set a real winner in U.S. Numismatics similar to all the sets issued specifically for kids. Remember,the aftr market works on supply and demand and prices depend solely upon market conditions and current demand for the coins. ~ Jim

Laz is quite correct. Knowledge is the key. It has been suggested that you should buy the book before the coin. This is an absolute. Q. David Bowers in his latest article appearing in Coin World expands on this. Learn all that you can about the series in which you apply your hard earned money. Investing in a book will always remain a safe bet.
