THE REVERSE IS OF THE 1988A SERIES - THE FACE IS A 1993 NOTE (THUS THE MULE)

Pretty nice note and a mule, like you say. I think you overpaid a bit but if you're happy with it then that's what counts. What else to say... I will say that Lloyd Bentsen had a short reign, which was related to his age and poor health at the time he was nominated. If President Clinton had nominated Robert E. Ruben first then Series 1995 may never have existed and Series 1993 may have instead lasted into 1999.

Another wild thought is that if this happened Series 1995 may well have taken the place of Series 1996 notes as 1996 was arbitrarily chosen for the series year of the next generation of currency redesigns because Series 1995 was already in place and at the time (unlike today) the BEP didn't like using overlapping series dates for differing design generations.
