For all of you that took my question SERIOUSLY regarding trends of past prices as well as insight into the future prices ..... thank you. The price index was especially helpful and I really appreciate the comments that many of you took the time to write and share.

:hammer:I think coin prices tend to go up or down with the price of gold and silver.
Right now, these two metals are going up, so now is a good time to sell, but they will be worth more as gold and silver go up..
If the financial markets start to crash, then is a good time to sell. Precious metals will crash too, but will be last. Coins will go down with precious metals.
The world is going to the Euro as the international monetary standard. This is happening now, before our very eyes. Other countries hold a lot of US treasuries backed by the dollar. About 1 1/2 trillion dollars worth. When the dollar is no longer the standard, these countries will want to start switching to the Euro. An international run on our treasuries, would cause a total financial collapse in the U.S.markets, and we would take the rest of the world with us.
The subprime mess is rocking the boat as I write this posting. Last week, the U.S. Secratary of Treasury called a press conference to tell the Nation that everything is under control and that the Fed is doing a great job. This makes me think that they are worried about the financial markets. The rest of the world is worried too, that is what is causing the rapid rise of the Euro against the dollar. I don't know where this is all going. I have diversified myself as much as possible, I also own some gold and silver as well as my coin collection. With the dollar receding, everything will cost more. Don't believe what the Government tells us about low inflation. Anyone who buys gas or food knows what inflation is.
So, hang on to your coins, and protect yourself as best you can, for whatever financial disaster awaits us.
