My first response without a closer examination of them would be that they are forgeries. But to be absolutly sure I would need to see a close up of the coins.

What sets me off is the reverse. The detail is too good, considering the pitting, but there may be an explaination for this and the coin may be authentic because I have seen pitted Peace Dollars before and I believe they were real but I cannot recall a pitted Peace Dollar with such good detail, especially considering the Peace Dollars are notorious for poor details in the first place.

Of course, the value goes down south. As to why or how they got that way, .... who cares? Really. Left out on the front Porch during a rainstorm? A cleaning gone wrong? Who cares?

I know what you are saying. When I first saw this, the feathers are just great aren't they? The word "peace" is not worn off, and all the letters are thick and bold. So, fake, cleaned, or natural?

The coin/coins in the pics have been very harshly cleaned. Other than that they look genuine to me.

I think that they are real, toned coins. The images are scans. The details are easy to see, just not any luster, so any accurate idea of the grade isn't possible. Just bullion value for them.:kewl:

That is what I thought, thanks!
