So today I found a apostle island quarter with two errors, anyone know about them or a value? The right side cliff by the tree line has a distinct mark, and the rocks on the lighthouse are touching on the right side?

That looks like a Die Chip. If you could post Full Size pictures and orientate the coin correctly (it all helps us).

But what is more interesting is the die chip?? on the rock to the right of the main rocks. The coin on the right has more "trees" around the tallest section; which I assume are die chips but I don't know much about this quarter.

Die Chips really don't carry a premium.

I see what you mean. Die chip? or _____. Won't go there just yet. It would be good to see a clear closeup of that area. Assume another chip since it already has one from that die.

An error would be if the kayaker fell overboard. I was actually at the release ceremony for this quarter in Red Cliff Wisconsin last year.

Sometimes the terminology can seem confusing for a newcomer to the hobby. The anomaly is called a die chip, and some of the newcomers will think that the "chip" is on the surface of the coin when it is actually on the surface of the die.

You see, the dies can take quite a beating in the process of striking tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of coins. Sometimes a weakened part of the die can break off and allow coin metal to flow into the void when the coin is struck, thus forming a raised area on the coin.

Here we go, the first one is the error. It almost looks like three trees next to the lighthouse? Idk ?

the term "error" is very specific in relation to human intervention to a die or something mechanical occurring during minting.

Die Chips are just a small piece falling off of the die.
Your 2018 definitely has a bunch of die chips; and that part up there probably is also die chips. As without it the die would have a piece sticking out making a large indent in that area. It makes sense that it was broken off from all the minting it does, thus a nicely placed, convincingly looking die chip.

"errors" of a different design may occur in certain situations such as with 2004 Wisconsin extra leaf quarter. But a quarter expert would have to look at it.

The two quarters are two different Die States .. you can see detail differences between them. ie, if they were serial numbered they've be far, far apart.

A coin die is like a tire .. it wears out /breaks, chips, etc right after initial use until it non-functional.

Quick question off the subject. Every time I get a response or post a thread it shows up on my email. My email is filling up anybody know how to turn that off?
