Would like to hear your thoughts on how collectors will react to a piece this rare with such unique toning. Does it command a premium?
Obverse toning is barely market acceptable. The reverse is questionable. I don't think it will dip off, either, without ruining any luster that's there. I would say this should command a discount over an untoned VAM 1-B.
For a 1B4 die stage H-10 toning shouldn't affect the over-all value much if at all. If HA gave you any feedback about the toning being questionable I would contact PCGS about the possibility of using their restoration service. You're gonna want this in a PCGS slab anyways... Welcome to another great site!
I don’t honestly believe that for a second. As it sits, I wouldn’t buy that coin for myself with your money, much less my own. The reverse toning limits the grade to UNC details and the price accordingly.
No one asked you to. The H-10 die stage is a much sought after coin that carries a substantial premium. If the toning is deemed questionable PCGS would be a logical step.
Not AT, just the way it was stored. Still desirable as is - original. Obv toning a plus, reverse a negative. The obverse is the money side.
