Self advertising garbage. Stay on youtube and away from here if you have nothing worthwhile to add to the forum.

I won't take a chance on a nickel from someone who can't spell nickel.
    But that's just me. o_O

Nickle (programming language), a numeric oriented programming language. European green woodpecker, sometimes called a nickle. Nickle Arts Museum, also known as The Nickle; see List of museums in Alberta, Canada.

Wow! So I can either win a programming language, a woodpecker, or an entire museum?! This is awesome!!!!

You want woodpeckers, I got 'em and you can have them all. They are destroying my hardwood trees. The other two I can't help you with.;)

Only one way to put this - I'm ashamed of all of you for treating the young man that way. I thought all of you were better men than that. Now if you don't want to participate in his contest, then don't. Nobody is going to make you. But to post what you did - you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

There is nothing wrong with his contest, and there is nothing wrong with the way he presented it. Which one of you had the initiative to do something like this at his age ?

Whether you realize it or not it's young people like him that are the very future of this hobby. And he should be commended, congratulated for his interest and willingness to participate, not only in this hobby that we all love, but in this forum as well.

So... it seems you are requesting he get special treatment because he is a kid. If an adult went about doing this same thing, would you defend them so readily? On the whole I would agree with kids being a protected class. But he’s also a kid making YouTube videos about things he knows almost nothing about. Notice how he called the reverse of the coin the “back”? Or how about that “mint state buffalo nickel” from the video?

The way I see it, he’s either a conman at an early age, intentionally lying about coin grades to get more views and thus money from YouTube, something I certainly don’t want to promote and foster. Or, he’s another person ignorant of numismatics masquerading as someone who has knowledge worth listening to. That is also something I don’t want to promote or foster. Just because he’s a kid doesn’t make his lies any less dishonest. If anything, we should not want people who lie about coin grades, or who are ignorant of them but try to act like they know what they’re talking about, representing us. And how about thinking for a second that this kid is going to mail something to a complete stranger, presumably using his own mailing address on the return? Does he have his parent’s consent to all this?

To the OP, @Colby Abele I would like to say this: please stop making YouTube videos about coins until you learn more. The buffalo nickel you showed is not anything close to MS. I applaud your enthusiasm for numismatics, but you’re on the wrong path right now. Listen more, talk less. Also, reconsider mailing items to complete strangers; you’re potentially giving crooks your address after showing them the coins you own. Good luck.

Yes, I would. All members should be treated with respect, particularly the newer ones.

Now I'll grant you, what you said could be true, but the same could also be said of any member of this forum. Do you advocate treating all of them like this young man was treated ? My point is we never have any way of knowing, not until you actually do get to know someone. But if you treat new or newer members like this young man was treated, how many do you think will ever stay ? How many do you think will ever continue to pursue the hobby ?

I think there is a great deal of rude folks and/or rude attitudes on this forum, most notably to newbies and it irks me as well. I don’t advocate/support the way some of the members treated him. But I also don’t advocate cheering him on either. I recognize your effort was perhaps a balancing one, but there are a lot of red flags here.

@GDJMSP , is this contest not breaking at least one of the contest rules?

He's saying that the contest is not valid unless we subscribe to his Youtube channel and like his video. At least that's the way I'm hearing it.

You are correct and thanks for pointing out, I missed those specific comments. But because he did make them, his contest is not allowed to be posted.
