G'Day All I am new to this forum and though I would give it a go to try to identify this Greek coin I have had in a general coin collection for some 40 to 50 years that I first had as a young teenager. I have long since lost interest in foreign coins and only focused on Australian pre-decimal coins. I dug this old collection of mine up recently and was going through my coins looking at eBay just for a bit of fun and came across an old Greek coin I have which I now know is a 1833 5 Drachmia's which appears to be quite valuable. Particularly in the condition that mine is in. As such I am looking to get advice on its authenticity. One thing that throws me is that although very similar mine seems to have some distinct differences to the ones I see on ebay. I have attached some pictures for your perusal. It weighs 22g on my digital scale (my scale has no decimal places) and the dimensions are 37.6mm wide by 2.8mm thick at the edges I would be very interested to know what you think. Best Regs Andrew
Could it be a Pattern coin made from Tin ? Pn13 1833A from my 2004 4th edition Krause world coin catalog.
Interesting the obvious differences such as the spelling on the front, the differences in the wreathes and the younger head. If it was going to be a copy you would have thought they would do a better job of it.
