Why are a 1909-p NON VDB Lincoln cents in 65/66 grades in RED
Getting so hard to find and if you do they are 200-300ish ..
You find a million and one VDB's in RED but it appears that the basic run of the mil NON VDB are just plain not there …
I found one PCGS coin MS66 at $300 dollars ...really ??
Just curious if there is a market to be made by scoffing up all you can find ...
( possible money making opportunity maybe ?? )

I havent really noticed that as a trend. Although I already have a 1909 non VDB in red so I havent really been looking to buy one lately.

The 1909-P Plain is scarcer in pristine Mint State because fewer of them were saved. The 1909-VDB was the first of its kind which always invites a bit of hoarding. There had to have been many rolls of 1909-VDB cents. They were alwasy around in Red Unc. at most of the major shows.

As for the current market, I have not been looking for this coin for many years. The last one I purchased was a Matte Proof. It sort of filled the hole for the 1909-VDB in Matte Proof, which I would love to get, but can't acquire because one guy owns most of the examples that are left.

That is just a plain logical thinking right there … something of which I am NOT an expert :)

Less saved = less in red. Once the newness wore off was less desirable
