Dear all, I started collecting coins some months ago and I would like to know where you guys buy your coins. I had some good expierience with MA-Shops but I did not buy on VCoins yet. What do you prefer? VCoins or MA-Shops? And what about ebay? Would be cool to get your feedback. Best regards Konstantin
MA-Shops is much much bigger than Vcoins and has more stuff. I don't even go to vcoins hardly because I can everything I want from Ma-shops and ebay.
Thanks so far for your help! I am foccused on German medieval coins and modern coins from all over the world. Currently I especially buy south american coins from the 19th century.
Very few of the dealers on VCoins update their inventory. The only ones that I would consider purchasing from are the book dealers. Three years ago I bought some auction catalogues from one of the dealers and sometime later they sent the PR's gratis. Talk about service. Bought a coin from one of the dealers and it was still listed on their sight over a year later. MA-SHOPS has a much higher quality of dealers and coins. If you buy a coin from a dealer within 2 minutes of purchase approval it is removed from the sellers site. They use PayPal exclusively. There were many times I purchased a coin on Monday and the following Monday I was taking it to the SDB. For the coins I collect MA-SHOPS is the best. What kind of German Medieval coins do you collect??
Currently I am into coins from the Alps area (Bavarian coins, Austrian coins from Friesach and Salzburg and also northern Italian coins) What do you collect?
@Reutherstein I collect European coins that have dates before 1500 AD. I have 19 different Austrian coins, but all of them are from the Eastern part of Austria, Styria, Wiener Neustadt and Wien. I also have coins from Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
OK, thanks for the information. Did you guys ever bought coins on MA Shops "Auctions"? I saw that some shops differ between fix prices and auctions
The auctions is what MA-Shops started with, I think. https://www.muenzauktion.com But I only buy from fixed price (non-auction) sellers. Christian
Wobei der Hinweis bei einer Konstruktion wie "Did ... bought" auch nicht viel hilft. Aber darauf kommt's in einem Forum wie diesem ja auch nicht an. Und: Hast Du? Tschüs, Christian
I only bought fixed price coins on MA shops yet. Sorry for my grammar but I am not a native speaker and I never read what I write before I post it Peace
Hi Christian, Long time no hear… but still happy to see some familiar "faces" around. I will try to catch up more often, but one thing is chasing another at the moment. Hope you are doing good? Any Coin Events you are going to visit the next time? On the 11th is one in Houten (NL) www.wbevenementen.eu Maybe will make it there… Anyway, regarding the Thread - Some Dealers on MA-Shops have the option to make an price offer or you can contact via "question about this item" the dealer directly and ask for a Details, a Discount or what ever… Most of them are uncomplicated Cheers Sarah
