I've been hunting and gathering errored coins for just a couple of years and never give much thougt to Selling any of my finds. I've found one that would be considerably value if even the most conservative pricing scales I've seen are somewhat accurate. I understand that grading a coin is going to bring it a higher bid at auction but I'm only considering sale because things aren't great financial and I I just don't have the room to spend . Would my choice and not to grade have much of a effect on the coins sellability? I would think the opinion and verification of a professional is definitely something a buyer wants and needs especially if a coin is potentially worth five figures or more. So, any pointers, tips or helpful hints are appreciated, my sincere thanks everyone to in cointalk.
Offer them for sale here. There are several error collectors who would have interest. @cpm9ball @furryfrog02 @Pickin and Grinin @paddyman98
The most important thing would be.. Are they actually mint errors? Or are some varieties? There is difference. Have you determined that they are true errors or varieties?
I am not an error guy but want to offer this in response to your question. When buyers are in the market for high value five figure coins, the answer is absolutely yes, authenticate the coin. Personally these days I would not consider a four figure coin purchase unless that coin was authenticated and slabbed. There is just too much chicanery in our hobby these days.
An easy way to do this is post the Variety's. If the photos are good enough we can help get you a grade, because ultimately the grade and die state is the deciding factor of the value. This is true in all aspects of coins whether an Error, Variety, or common coin.
Chris, What's doesn't exist? Are you referring toThe coin I didn't name or make mention of? I didn't log on here to sell anything, meerly looking for advice , certainly wouldn't attempt to sell on a forrum of faceless people I don't know especially considering ive never sold a coin and had you actually read my post youd have seen i was just seeking advice in a coin related matter , it takes a lot of nerve to throw around allegations of dishonesty to a person you've never met, I'm not a big enough lump of excriment to play in your league I've got a life outside of projecting my misery on people online but I also don't need to argue about existence with a stranger , the only existence im questioning at the moment concerns your ability to type with out the existence of a brain. Take care Chris, I'm sure you're gonna have a real fullfiling day if you just keep at it buddy.
What a Chris is saying is simple, if you don't post a photo of what you are talking about it really doesn't exist. We most have photos to see what you are seeing on the coin in order to answer your questions.
Walter I'm quite sure Chris was saying 'it doesn't exist' with tongue in cheek. I use that same expression online hoping to get the poster to attach a pic. I believe you were extremely quick to pass judgment. Take a deep breath. It's all good. The fine folks here on CT have proven to be very helpful. Be well.
Take a deep breath - that's just an expression that means without a photo, we can't determine anything about the coin - ie; it doesn't exist to us (to respond to) until we can see it. It doesn't mean you are making up the existence of the coin.
Walter, I have a car that I'm thinking about selling. It's not just any car. It's actually worth in the mid-six figure range. I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking I'm trying to abuse the privileges of the CT forums, but I really need your opinion. What do you think? Do you get my drift, Walter? Chris
Walter, you have been here long enough to see many postings where someone mistakenly IDed their coin as one thing when it wasn't as well as some who wished to give impressions they know everything and everybody else is wrong. It hurts when some one has purchased something in good faith and went to sell at appreciated value and it wasn't what was thought to be. We frown on someone giving a view off of the top of their mind without any evidence to go on, ~ Both the Author as well as the Answerer. I am sure everyone would demand that I should show a coin that I am mentioning before offering advice, and I couldn't blame them. If you have reasons to believe it is a 4 or 5 figure coin, yes spend the money on a top tier grading service so you can decide if a price is right when you do sell. The people that regularly answer on this forum ,may be sometimes grumpy, sharp, irritable, etc. but they usually end up with an answer as good as or better than most services ( IMO). Jim
