I sent this message to an eBay seller:

"Hi. Real nice looking coin. I'm tempted to bid. You state nothing about a return policy. Pictures cannot tell all about a coin, and it's a bad gamble to buy a coin based on pictures, if there is no return policy. Do you have one?"

    And got this reply:

"Sorry, but I have been told by the coin people about the switch. I am not saying you will do this but I do Ebay for fun and it doesn't really matter how much I get for the coin. It is not worth it to me to get even $100.00 more for an item to take the chance that I may have to mess with returning someone's money. Relist it, and everything else that goes with a return. I sold a Walking Liberty half dollar last month and it sold "as is" for $700 plus and the person was absolutely please and ask me to let him know if I had any more like that one. I find these coins at estate sales and don't know squat about them. So, if you have any reservations please don't bid.
    Thank you,"

Would you buy from this guy?

No Way! He sounds like a real rip-off merchant.

What does his feedback look like? I do ebay for fun also and do not list a return policy. But if someone were to ask if they could return the coin if not pleased the answer is of course, yes. I would look elsewhere for the coin you want.

Gotta say no. No return policy - no buy.

hmmmm....probably no...personally, I never believe the "...I don't know a squat of coins..." parts...never believe them...maybe he don't care as a collector...but he does know as a seller...a $700 Walking? just like that...I believe he knew what he was selling...

    ...also how's his feedback?

Nope- too risky. Poor business sense on his part, if s/he is honest.

i suppose it would depend on the value of the coin.....and your reasons for wanting it.......

but yea.....anything going for more than $20 with no return policy i would most likely say no deal

I would say no,a big part of buying on ebay (for me) is trust. I have been buying from some ebayers for years. If at first you gotta take a chance take it with a return policy.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! It all depends on how much of a gambler you are, and how much you are willing to possibly loose.

I do not like his style of writing. He uses the word "and" to many times and I don't like it and I never knew anyone who tried to make money thru sales and not care about how much they make and it is like this other person who asked me if he used the word and to many times.

depends if its raw or in a slab--If slabbed, what you see is what you get--why do you need a return? its graded, it is slabbed, it's genuine? whatcha want? If you bid on it thats what you will get on my offers, what u c is what it is--I do however give a return but i was thinking of dropping em on the slabbed stuff--BTW I only sell PCGS & NGC slabbed stuff :D

Now AS FOR RAW, well now thats a different hound dog--
I ususally take pic in its raw form, then when I ship it, it is sealed in a sa-flip stapled shut in a "certain" way--If you wanna return it you can--but that sucker better be the same coin, and it better come back the same way you got it--To many have tried to swap my gem and send me back his junk---to bad, so yea no return is happening because of the fraud "By the BUYER"

Hi...No No No...if I cannot view the coin in person for a few days and keep or return as the buyer I don't want it...
All reputable sellers offer return policy... som shorter than others but still....
