What is going on with this quarter.

Meow is still doing CRH quarters today, and has spied this odd quarter. It had a very shiny edge, too shiny to be a circulated 90%. So Meow guessed it would be a Korean coin, like one Meow found before that has the same diameter of a quarter and a shiny edge. But nope, it was a P mint Pennsylvania state 1/4. Could it be plated? It does not look crazy shiny like a plated one. But Meow is not sure. What do you guys think?

What should Meow do? Be happy about it or disappointed? Are any such coins worth anything?

How do you tell the difference from a modern mint set silver one to this one???

The plating looks very Off.. too shiny. Look at the upraised rim. Kind of ragged.

OK, its not struck well enough to be a silver mint coin.

The only coins that are silver are the proofs from San Francisco.

When the SQ's came out, the TV hucksters went to work having sets of uncirculated quarters that couldn't make the grade plated in very, very, very thin gold, silver and platinum to sell at exorbitant prices with fancy wooden display cases. When some of the suckers realized that they had been taken, many of these sets were dumped into circulation.

Meow was taken too. Taken by the excitement of a silver rim. Only to be disappointed upon examination.

Highly likely it was taken out of a platinum/silver plated set in a case.
Now, someone realized the coin is worth $0.25.

Yep, sure seems like it. What a disappointment. Meow though Meow found what would be the third silver quarter found this year.
