OK, so at work I am always on the look out for notes that strike me as interesting. Today, I stumbled across a Series 2003A Atlanta star note. The serial is FF04205672* and its pretty close to CU. What strikes me as suprising is in Schwartz & Lindquist (8th ed) that note is listed at $50 in CHCU. I'm surprised that this note has such a high value since they made 4.3 million of them. I'm obviously going to get this note, but why would this particular bill carry such a premium. I was expecting about $25 with a mintage like that.
me too perhaps some got destroyed for whatever reason. did u get the second set of $20 that came fromt he bep if you did what were the serial nos
without having my book with me, its tough to know for sure why it is so high. Heck, even with my book, i might not know
Hey RichieB... Currently traveling in Phillie..wish I were in Chicago!! There could be several reasons why such high numbers were released. I will look when I get back to see what I can find. In the mean time, perhaps Numbers will come along and help you out some. RickieB

yes it most certainly is. Very crisp, looks like a couyple small smudges, but seeing the condition of the note, i think it is mopre likely bleed-throughs. One spot however, on the obverse, above the top left district letter/number.. the F6... it looks like a spot there, where i do not see anything on the reverse to be the cause of any bleed-through. is this a dirty spot, or am i missing an element on the reverse, liek maybe the Numeral 5, that could be the cause? Also, on the reverse, the top right numeral 5, about an inch tot he left, thwere is a spot that looks like a finger print, but it stops right at the border of the design on the obverse... what does it looke like to you? is it a dirty finger print? or is it bleed through? a ver nice note! nice square sharp corners!!! keep it safe!!
RichieB16, I don't have the 8th edition but I do have a theory. Note was printed at the Fort Worth facility. Atlanta notes are often printed at both and sometimes the ones printed in Fort Worth have much lower printing total than those in WDC. Serial number may be high but supply of notes may actually be low. clembo
