Here is the 'collection' that I bought from his son. I don't know exactly how many there are, as I didn't count them, at least yet but it was about 40lbs.

Pic 1: is all of the 40's & 50's that I've separated and for now dumped them into a couple $25 cent boxes from the bank. Bottom left are the Indian head cents and under that the Merc dimes including the fake 1916D. Bottom middle is the steel cents and bottom right is all of the uncirculated type coins (mostly all in the 50's).

Pic 2: is one set of folders that I got to start making sets. Everything that is in there currently is what I have acquired from bank/customer rolls from a few different local banks. As you can see I don't have many Wheats from the 1909 - 1940 folder and why I jumped all over getting these coins. I'm pretty sure I will have that folder full aside from just a handful of the key dates, it will be interesting to see what I actually ended up getting. Of course I have all the coins for the two newer folders but am either waiting for better quality versions or haven't bothered picking the best ones for that year/mint (like the 2009+).

Pic 3: is all of the 1930's and earlier Wheat cents that were in the 'collection'. I have gone through the first time sorting the cents out and haven't spent time looking for many key dates or errors yet. I did notice and pull out a 1914S though along with the two fakes that I've posted. There may well be some other key dates or errors in here, I have just started going through them though and will know better in a couple days probably. There are at least 2 other 1909's that I saw but I don't even think either were an S or a VDB and are not in very good condition at all.

Overall though I think I did pretty good for $150 so far  so I'm not too worried about the two fakes. The way I see it, this collection is worth more melted than what I paid for it lol. At least the fake 1909s VDB will make a good filler for the album until/if I ever buy a real one, which I wouldn't put in the album anyway...

Always looking for the rare coins to leave for my grandchildren. Found this one on an auction site (unnamed). The price was below $10.00 for a 1909S VDB error coin. that is always the best clue to a fake coin. But the photo tells much more.
