Hello, this is my first day on this forum. I acquired an icecream bucket of pennies my grandpa saved.(1/3 wheat pennies). I have bean searching for errors, and i was reading about 1974 s small dates and was having trouble identifieing this one. Any help would be great! Thanks! Ps. Also the mint stamp looks a little funny, but it could just be my imagibation 20190507_194136.jpg

The one on the left is the small date 1974-S.
If you need it to complete a set or something, or like collecting varieties, etc.
But the 1974-S small date was produced in equal numbers with the regular 1974-S and there's no extra value.

Good to know! Thanks. Which dates should i watch to find small dates on that could have added value?

1960 small date Philly Lincoln cent.
1970 S small date Lincoln cent.
These are both difficult to find.

Kentucky I am not a mind reader. I don't know what you are asking.
In the photo there are 2 different 4's from the 1974-S side by side.
The first one is the small date 1974-S. There's no added value as they
were produced in the same numbers as the regular 1974-S.
But if you like collecting varieties, or need it to complete a set,
as I have already posted, then OK.
In the OP's photo I can't tell, too blurry. I was able to go through some 74-S
coins that I had and that part on the left side of the 4 was easily identifiable.

In order to get someone's attention when you quote them, if you put one of these thingies @Michael K it notifies them. I was just confused (comes with age) and thought you had posted a close-up of a 1944 cent. BTW, nice photo stitching.

I have never been notified when my name is highlighted.
I realized the 1944 after. If you look closely you can see the split down the middle in the photo of the 2 different 4's of the 1974-S.

@Michael K when I looked again, I could see it, but you really did a good stitching job (or whatever it's called).

I think that was the photo from Lincoln Cent Resource, or wherever I read
the story about the 1974-S small date, which was interesting. So I just copied and pasted the photo.
