I'm sure it's not a business stike like I said I have 10 of those compared to this one nothing looks familiar and I got this off a proof set like I said before I'm going by two things the stike of the coin and most important the coin blank I've seen many regular and proof blanks I'm the o e seeing the coin in person and I know alot about coins I been doing coins for 10 years now.
I guess I'll have to defenatly submit to pcgs or ngc I'll keep u updated hopefully in a cople weeks I'll let u all know what it comes back as.
Here are two known and certified proofs that look nothing like a proof but they are same mirror finish and Luster as the one I have so the point is a proof dosent have to look like a proof to be a proof but certin caractors come into play that determine if it's a proof like the finish of a coin and the strike will help determine that I did not come on here asking if it's a proof cuz I already know it is but which is better to send off to grade pcgs or ngc that's what I had originally posted this for.
Most of you would of probably said these two coins we're buiness stike if they weren't in these holders already but hard to believe there proofs lol.
This first image is a business strike. The second is a proof. I hope this helps you tell the difference.
Yes and I have like 10 of the top ones thoze are regular business stikes the one in the bottom is a proof the mirror finish and Luster maybe my pictures aren't good enough but my resembles the bottom high mirror finish but only one way to find out send off lol
Actually the second image is not a cameo but this one is. All the images I have posted are PCGS graded coins.
Yup seem right to there's 3 types of proof no cameo cameo and deep cameo I'm willing to bet my is a proof with no cameo lol I already seen the pcgs list of regular still and proof stikes
Before you send the coin in, take it to a local shop or coin show. Ask for an opinion from a few dealers. None of them will tell you that your coin is a proof.
These are regular stike which my does not look like no mirror finish in the background and my does have the mirror finish that's why the light reflected so stong off the pictures
These are the proofs in which if you notice none look alike that's the thing about proofs none look the same the first two coins that were already in a holder han no mirmir finish to them like the ones in the pcgs website and that didn't determine weather they were proofs or not.
Here's another proof that looks nothing like a proof or like the ones on the pcgs website but it's a proof I seen enough regular stikes and proofs trust me when I say it's a proof
From what I can tell, there has never been a 1973 Lincoln proof found without the S mint mark. Send the coin to PCGS and wait for the bad news.
We can go back n forth on weather it's a proof or not I'm sennding the coin off tommorow to ngc I choosen. but in about 3 to 4 weeks I'll let u know the answer there's no point going to a local coin shop there not capable of making such a decision since they can't grade and enslab it anyway it will just be another opinion so no point wasting time there TTYL I'll defenatly let u guys know
NGC will not straight grade the coin because of the environmental damage to the reverse of the coin. It will come back AU Details.
J.S. the 1961 in the holder is a proof. In 1961 proofs were struck in Philadelphia and therefore carried no mint mark. In 1968 proof coins started being struck in San Francisco with an S mint mark. So your 1973 with no mm is just a nice business strike.
I don't think you understand what they are telling you. The fact that your coin does not have an S mint mark on it absolutely proves your coin is NOT a Proof ! But, I also realize that you're only going to believe what you want to believe - regardless of the facts staring you in the face.
