Can you give me your opinion of the grade of this Morgan? Has it been cleaned or AT'd? Would it be worth the money to send it to a grading service (It's an 1892 O)? If so, which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Greetinga and Welcome to the forum. The coin looks to be in VF-20/25 condition to me after a quick glance. Take Care Ben
The coin is common. Certainly not worth slab cost until it gets up in the MS64+ range. Save your money, take the money you would spend on the slab and buy another one like it. : )
I'm going vf-20 the detail is too worn for me, but maybe its that toning. Don't slab it you won't get the cost of th slab back even if they place it in a slab. Chances they will send it back ungraded.
I agree it's worn but I'd give it a VG/F-30 rating because of the condition of the feathers/reverse. The obverse is notorious for having a weak strike and its condition could be from being a weak strike but the reverse isn't so bad. But a better picture wouldn't hurt when trying to grade something, so I could be off a bit. As to slabbing . . . I'm with everyone else on that baby - Nope! Use that money to buy another coin. Like I said - "But a better picture wouldn't hurt when trying to grade something, so I could be off a bit." The picture bites but I think it has good difinition on the feathers (as far as I can see) so I based it on that and I am no expert. Ribbit, Toad :smile
Sorry I can't get a good picture. I was also thinking about VF-20. What do you think about this one? Thanks.
