The toning looks normal to me but I'd never pay that price myself.

    I'd give $30.
Possibly not forged, but, I agree with @Collecting Nut- definitely not worth $225.

common date, I think 20 at best, its a premium over spot price, my inaccurate price guide show its retail at 28$

Very common date. You can buy a MS-65 with no toning for less than his asking price and he's selling a 63. o_O:yack:

I wish I could find the thread...... Some months back there was photo evidence that these folks are cooking these toned coins in the slab. A six month old auction of the coin was found with a photo. It was a normal proof coin in an authenticated slab. Six months later it was put up for auction again. Same slab, however now it was that hideous purple color. These guys are cooking them in authenticated slabs now.

You are right! In the past year every forum (NGC, CU, et al) has had one or more threads about 'In the slab' toning.

I'm not sure you guys know how rare rainbow toned peace dollars are. Looks legit to me, and a perfectly reasonable price.

The same seller sold it for $185 a few weeks ago. Could've been returned or possibly a nonpaying bidder.

I should have been clear with my comment. I have no opinion on the legitimacy of the coin. I was only responding to the part of the OP’s question concerning whether or not coins can be AT in a holder. Sorry bout that.

The one in question to me appears to have had a focused hotspot, I know pcgs also takes eye appeal into consideration, so I dunno, each person has different taste, I wouldent buy the coin in question. or the link I gave due to his in the second feedback score, or Id ask him to call me on the phone to discuss the coin, since the seller lives in Illinois.
