and this one Is a canadian Medal issued in 39 and was handed out to school children mostly. It was issued to commemorate King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and their visit to Canada.
Their visit was mostly to rally troops for WWII

I purchased that Medal out of a steel wash basin at a coin show recently. Had no idea what it was originally, but I knew it was some sort of commemorative medallion, and it looked official. Was certainly worth the...oh...30 cents I paid for it? Great find. Yours is much cleaner than mine though ;)

The Churchil has to rank as one of the ugliest coins ever produced LOL I do like the medal though :D The Churchil was the first British coin to portray anyone other than the reigning monarch as well :kewl:

As far as the Churchill coin is concerned, I am obviously part of a minority. :) Yes, I know many collectors do not like the piece, but I think that this portrait of the late Churchill is pretty good: Not strictly a profile, and quite characteristic. Plus, it has a "third dimension" that the Queen's portrait does not have. What I really dislike about the piece is the font used for the name Churchill. Other than that, however ... nah, not bad.

I've never seen a Churchill coin like that before- I rather like it as well. May look around on Ebay see if I can pick one up inexpensively.
