Went to ship some parts today and look what I found on the floor at USPS. First time a shipping service wasnt a hassle with a coin! Lol
That thing could tell some stories for sure. It's always worth bending down to pick up a penny. I look at it as getting paid to exercise.
My father would always tell me stories about DDO gold $5 & $20 gold coins (I was hooked) then one day I found this guy... and I've been chasing since.
Sheesh, not bad! The oldest I've ever found in circulation was a 1911 but it had really been through the wringer, whereas this specimen looks pretty decent for a 100+ year old coin.
I'm guessing someone participated in the GACH and left it there for an unsuspecting soul. There've been numerous accounts of how collectors left 'finds' on shelves in stores, on the floor leaving a trail, in tip jars, basic spending, in vending machines, and so on. Nice find!
Someone gave me a Whitman collection for pennies... which had this 1909. The other is change I got at McDonalds 3 weeks ago!... this stuff is still out there. The 54' is in such great condition..
