Calm down, scooter, not everyone is waiting by the computer to answer questions, we have jobs and stuff to do.
quiet I won't sell it is a memory of my official grandfather in the American navy in the early 1900s, this coin has NEVER seen the light in over 50 years, my dad keeps it for me and I don't sell it even for 10 thousand dollars, for me is a 1921-D MS70 DMPL I will NEVER let others make judgments based on stupid impressions. You would have shown me this coin I would have made dozens of compliments instead I received only negative opinions. thank you
2 Italian coin experts have just confirmed to me by email the almost uncirculated (qFDC) with beautiful iridescent surface, this judgment is only from the photos and have not yet had in hand that is even more fascinating
Gianni and all, I think this thread has run its course. Gianni , I think we all realize the history and personal relationship with the coin and that is very valuable to you, so enjoy it to the extreme. The toning came from the paper it was wrapped in and not the ink of the time. Such coins are worth more to family than an actual evaluation. The members have been evaluating it on a technical scale rather than a personal history scale and that is what most most inquiries to the forum want to know. Best wishes to you. Jim
I will comment on an Italian coin expert from the Kingdom of Italy and his assessments are highly appreciated in the market. traduce for you with google tranlsate ----------- The obverse of the coin hides 3 different layers: the first of a golden yellowish, the second layer of pearly blue and the third light layer of a coppery red, these 3 layers determine the iridescent effects typical of the rainbow to the movement of the coin in the area with little light in an environment open to sunlight, the colors cancel each other out, giving back the natural silver color of the coin, these types of findings are exceptional and, in particular, on coins with 90% silver, they are usually seen in coins with more copper concentration. The obverse of the coin is absolutely precious and rare. Absolutely authentic currency dimensions and weight are a guarantee and of great value given by the conservation. I will be glad to be more complete having it in hand and offering you an adequate evaluation, I will wait for you in my office. Sincerely, Paul
crazy I hadn't noticed, in fact as soon as I put it under the sunlight all the colors and effects are no longer seen as the coin disappears, you see only bright silver, as soon as I put it in the office, all the rainbow-like colors return, incredibileeeee
You should take the time to learn what you are talking about before you start insulting those trying to help you. It's clear that you do not understand anything about this hobby.
here is another GOD !!! but yes you were born learned you have NEVER been an ass like me !!! good boy
I have learned from 50+ years in this hobby. I have gave you honest and correct answers to your questions. That's all I can do. It seems you are having a hard time understanding English. I hope you don't hold that against those that have tried to help you. The very first image you posted shows that the coin was cleaned at some point in it's life and would not grade any higher than AU. The other images show that the coin has zero luster left. Over time the coin has toned in a way that is not a natural look. The coin is not an MS65+ as you said. The images show that that is not true.
Good boy! I like the way you responded and your calmness. I accept your opinion and it is also shared by me, if I insist it is because I know what I have in my hand. I am convinced that if you had this piece in your hand you would change your opinion, your experience should lead you to think that it is VERY difficult to show certain details in a photo, I tried to take pictures trying to find the right reflections to show what to words you can't tell. Perhaps probable those who know that my grandfather washed the coin in his time but since 1960 around this coin ended up in the hands of my father that the deposit in a drawer in a definitive way, my father had no passion for coins or collection did not interest him anything he didn't understand anything and he never gave interest, it was impossible for him to wash or take care of the coin for him in a few words this coin never existed from the early 60s until his death 3 years ago and nobody EVER in the family he NEVER took this coin in his hands, not even to look at it, he didn't give a damn about it. Surprisingly, even my mother didn't know anything, and cleaning up some corners of the house, she found some things that my father had put in, I spent days looking through paper wrappers some coins including this morgan dollar. I don't think there are people who today in 2019 can see if a coin was washed in the 50s or 70 years ago, it's just a hypothesis that should not be the center of a negative analysis made today. The coin is of a very rare preservation and I don't think if they know it with this particularity, also according to me it is about MS60. The most beautiful thing is in its reflections of colors that have been created in these 60 years wrapped in the darkness of a newspaper and that I can't capture with photos, it seems like a glass reflects me all in the sun you can't even understand that coin reflects the light, only at home you can look at it and take some pictures but the bottom turns not silver anymore but a mirror of colors that alternate with the movement. I saw and had dozens of silver coins in my hand, but this is unique, it looks like a source of diamond colors and a color of silver that looks like gold, I am sure that each of you who commented could have it in your hand would remain speechless and it has never seen such a coin, it is as if it had a colored glass surface, if you put it in a display case in an auction (not for sale) it would be 100% an attraction for everyone.
