Hello. I found this dollar kept by my father but maybe it was from my grandfather saw eta 1921. It has a brand new color with very charming light blue and yellow red patina I think is a MS65 +. What do you think about your currency? Sorry my English, greetings from Italy to all, Gianni
I agree with the comments above. Also, please be aware that not all flips are safe for longterm storage.
My thought was 'buffed' a bit, but in deference to OP........it was your Dads coin. It's an extremely valuable coin, but it doesn't belong residing in an MS-65+ holder.........
My dad has had this for at least 50 years before he was from my grandfather NEVER WASHED or polished always kept in a chest along with some others.
I do not understand what makes you think it is washed, this morning I took 2 more photos in natural light without reflections of lamps maybe the reflections showed it very shiny, now you can see better, I swear it's beautiful and has a color to the circular movement that goes from blue to red to golden yellow, zero wear or circulated
sorry what the two columns of coin variants indicate MS PL --- MS DPL ???? what do they mean??? thankssssss
PL means Proof-Like, DPL means Deep mirror Proof-Like. proof-like coins are regular business strikes that resemble proofs with mirrored fields.
Unless your grandfather got this brand new in 1921, and he, your father and you never washed it in the 98 years since then, there is always the possibility that a coin like this could have an 'old cleaning'. This simply means that someone, at some timed 'cleaned' the coin, and the toning it has now has been from after the cleaning. As fr as AU, you say there is no wear but fir AU, there doesn't have to be much wear to now have a coin qualify for AU instead of Uncirculated. Just for your info in the future in case you want to be more realistic with your coins instead of over-grading them to MS 65 all the time..
but how do you say that someone in the past has washed the coin !!! impossible to say with certainty that nobody has washed a 95 year old coin !!! this can be said then by any coin that has been washed in the past. So these patinas are formed only on washed coins ??? it seems to me a lot...
what is the difference between PROOF and PROOF LIKE ??? sorry but I don't understand the difference forgive me
