Hi Justin, If you could crop your pix better so the coin fills the frame, that would be better. Not extreme close ups, just a little closer. Now, at this distance from the coin, I can definitely see damage on the front, it's called the obverse. We call that DEFDAM. On the back, which we call the reverse, I see what could be, I'm not saying it is for sure, but it could be a die clash.....or.....it could just be more damage. Better pictures, a little closer, will help decide that question, and that question should better be answered by folks with more expertise in this area such as @paddyman98 and/or @Fred Weinberg or other members. Just hang on and they will be here soon. In the meantime, I want to Welcome you to Coin Talk !! the Best Internet Coin Site on this side of the Mississippi River, or on the other side also.
Not at all.. That was damaged over time. The obverse is damage to the clad layer due to extreme heat. Bubble under the Clad. There are no Mint Errors on that Dime.
Who is this "WE" you speak of? 2 people. You make it sound as though it is a Proper Numismatic term, when it is Not.
Haha.. He is probably reffering to me.. I coined the term DEFDAM which means and is short for Definitely Damaged! A few other members use it also.
Welcome Justin. Stick around for the fun. Post a coin you find with what you see. You can rib us a little, we’re tough
