Progression of 2 of my nickel cuds.

    I finally have a pair of coins that feature a progression of different die stages from the exact same coin die.

    Below are two 1970-D Jefferson nickel obverse cuds. Notice the first pairing is an earlier stage as the cud grows clockwise because it's continued striking adds to the level of damage. Enjoy!

    wow, that is cool. 2 from same broken machine. I study some of my coins, trying to find matching ones, sometimes. don't have many errors.

    Nice cud progression, Joe. Surprised that cud is getting quite big, but the Mint was still using the broken die.

    Not sure this is the same die. The mint mark location / rotation looks different.
