Cool, thanks for posting. Our coin club met this past Tuesday and the Lowell W quarter contest was a big topic of discussion.
The person from Kansas joined CCF prior to submitting to PCGS. https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=344612&whichpage=1
Leave it to PCGS to offer such a ridiculous bounty so their Kool-Aid drinkers will have something to brag about. Chris
Probably Yootube already has a "video" saying this is the coin that PCGS paid big money for, go to CT and get it evaluated and sell for $$$$.
Truly sad that some people try and turn even this into a negative and take shots at PCGS over it. Awesome idea by PCGS and congrats to the winners
@cpm9ball Your post sounds like sour grapes to me. Why always be such a downer. Your age and contempt is really starting to show. Aldis had dates and prunes on sale this week. My Mom swears by them...maybe you should give them a try.
Are you discouraging visits to CT? Wonder if Peter would agree with that, especially from a moderator.
If you don't like what I have to say, go read stuff on BoobTube. Yeah, I remember the big deal that PCGS made about paying out big bucks for an MS70 Lincoln cent. They love to blow their own horn.....sometimes too soon! Chris
One of these discovery pieces, graded MS66 by PCGS, sold for $4600 bid at Great Collections yesterday. Not a bad haul. So someone else was willing to pay big money for first pieces discovered. When the buyer's fee is included, the buyer paid over $5 grand for it. What a fascinating idea from the Mint. Looks like the West Point Mint is in the limelight these days.
They certainly got a national coin hunt going and hyped up a new release to ridiculous price levels. More people will probably enter the hobby as a result
Wanted to update that I saw on Ebay the first listings of the 2019W Texas quarter on there today, about 5 days early from the release date. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-W-San...rentrq:b52f694216c0a9e423bb160ffff674e9|iid:1 If you are near the Lewisville, Texas area (looks like North of Dallas/Ft. Worth area) and have some free time, it might be good to check a few banks. There's still time to hit the mail today and get in on that bounty.
