Nice haul your Benedict Arnold buddies raked in. ;) Going swinging without you, tsk tsk tsk.

So which of those detectors is the preferred machine? I'm days away from pulling the trigger on either the Garrett AT Pro or the Minelab Equinox 800. It'll be my first detector.

If Meow lived in NY, Meow would beg to be allowed to go. Meow could assist in the digging.

I can see where the term came from, but doesn't that get you some funny looks outside the group?

How do you guys choose what area everyone gets to search ( I guess divide the land is a better way to say that)?
It does seem more fun to detect with a group than alone. Some people to talk to and share finds with.

Any day finding silver is a great one!

Could you please tell your friend to not scrub his coins with a wire brush?

I started to bring that up. Pretty harsh cleaning.

He sent me the picture and I scolded him for the harsh cleaning!
I spoke to him. He's really not a coin collector.. Just a treasure hunter.

To be honest, I have done the same thing. I'm even guilty of hooking them up to a small transformer and burning off the junk on the coin. Burned a few up doing this. Once you know it's just silver value, it's a fun coin to play with.

I know that permissions and permits have been discussed in the past and I seem to remember that you said you needed a permit to metal detect in public parks, is that correct?
I have no such restrictions in the wilds of Montana, at least outside of city limits. LOL
