Had this 2019 one pound coin in my change and it has been rim milled on all 12 sides and not just 6 I have had leftys and sunburst one pounds but not one with all the sides milled .
Looks like there are 6 normal sides of segmented reeding and the others look a bit off. It could of been done deliberately to seem like all sides are milled. I don't know too much about known British coin errors. Is this a known issue?
Hi Welcome to ct! Niho,Like @paddyman98 said it’s normal. It seems it was reintroduced. Check out this link.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...uce-new-12-sided-coin-harder-counterfeit.html
This might help in your question Quote "There are reports of a 'variety' where some coins have a reeded edge adjacent to the latent image and others have a plain edge." closed quote From the Numista webpage - https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces100658.html
I think your miss understanding me it's defiantly an error I was told by someone from change checker on the new £1 coin 1the 12 sides on the collar ( rim ) it has a milled edge on 6 sides so if it was a lefty the milling is to the left of the bottom of the queens head this coin has milled edge all around the edge when it hose smooth milled Smooth around the edge
If you look at this edge that is how it should be zoom in on my pics mine has ridged all around the coin not just on 6
Well I don't know what else to tell you. Maybe it is or maybe it is not. Send it to get attributed by a coin grading service.
There are reports of a 'variety' where some coins have a reeded edge adjacent to the latent image and others have a plain edge. Edited: Also, next time you think you have a possible error. Or valuable coin. It’s best to wear gloves. Finger prints can leave marks and devalue your coin.
I have found out what it is now an error coins on fb is run by a guy who owned change checker app and check your change uk fb site he said he has only seen it on 2 coins it's not common it's called a collar deterioration
This is the specs of a new pound coin as you can see it edge is milled plain milled and so on mine is milled all the way around no plain been told to wait to see how many get circulated collar deterioration is malfunction of the equipment that makes the coin
With regards to your description, what does defiantly, lefty and hose have to do with it. Your pictures are not clear, the milling on the supposedly blank edges looks to be post mint. Do not send it to the Royal Mint and do not believe what is put on Face Book or YouTube.
I have sent errors of to mint b4 I no loads who have so your talking rubbish pal and the guy who runs error site on fb owns change checker lol gets all the inside info from mint I been collecting coins for years you been a member on here for 8 yrs and not one best answer on all the questions you answered lol so your opinion don't count for much
The images aren't clear, but from what I see I suspect we may be seeing either shear lines from the punching of the blank, or scrapes formed on the plain edges during ejection from the collar. After enlarging the first two images I can say they are definitely not milled edges on all sides.
You see streaks/ lines on the plain side's often, nothing out of the ordinary. I have 3 new £1 coins with a clashed die & 1 of those is clear, am I singing and dancing from the rooftops, NO they are just interesting coins that show what can happen during the minting process. I also have other oddities but they are just that & worth no more than face value. Just because YOU are a little excited does NOT mean that others will be and more often than not what YOU think you are seeing is not really there. Not having a go, just my ten bobs worth.
