Good finds. May you live long enough to find a West Point Quarter (W) buried in the sand.

If I could detect just one wheat cent.... Just one.... I would feel like I found a hoarded treasure. Man, soon as I get my new knee up to snuff, man I will be beating paths all over. Paddy, you inspire me.

Metal detecting thread gives me a chance to float an idea for input. Taxman says our house was built 1875 - it would be a cross between coin shooting & Spelunking but my crawlspace is kind of a time capsule...do you think it would be worth the effort @paddyman98 ?

New York must be the home of metal detecting. Great finds Paddy!

The house I grew up in was built in, about, 1890. My brother and I were digging in the back yard and found an 1889 nickel. People have always been losing things. We replaced the roof over our back porch and found a contractors notebook. It was from the early 20th Century. Some large jobs were estimated at less than $10. Always fun to find old stuff.

I love stuff like that. Takes you right back when you read the entries. I helped my wife clean her great grandmothers home when she passed. We have a journal that has entries like, “$6.95 loan for seed. Sarah the cow as collateral”..... That sort of thing. I love that sort of stuff. It reminds you that history is about people’s daily lives. No different than today.

And this was stashed in the wall when we gutted our kitchen

Meow wishes Meow could play detecto Cat too. Living smack in the middle of the Capital City does not work well for that hobby. But the paws are itchin to dig some treasure for sure. Thanks for sharing with us.

Please paddyman98 Meow would like to see a picture of the area where you found them. Meow want to get an idea of what kind of place produces the little treasures.

Pretty none the less. Might be harmful to Meow's hero, Streaky the Supercat
