    35mm X ~3.5mm; with pin, ~17 grams (Bronze)
    Obverse: XXI Adunata In Torino * 1-2-3 Giugno 1940-XVIII;
    10 Regg Alpini in raised center.
    Reverse: Alpiner w/Horse-Pennant under Bugle; Angoletta at L boot heel.
    Question: What is the significance of
    XVIII after 1940?

    I'll see what history I can find about the 10th Alpine Regiment, & show it here if worthwhile. wlw

    From Wikipedia:
    The ANA (Associazione Nazionale Alpini or National Alpini Association) is a registered society representing the "Veci" or former members of the Alpini corps. As the "Veci" see themselves as merely "on leave" rather than veterans, the ANA is colloquially known to be the 10th Alpini Regiment. Since 1920 every year ANA organizes a national reunion the "Veci". Hundreds of thousands of Alpini congregate with family and friends to an Italian city for a weekend in the late spring to celebrate and have a good time while remembering old times.

    I don't have the slightest idea what it signifies.

    BUT: It's there for a reason, eh? Somebody will know...

    The Forrer reference only lists medallists from 500BC to 1900AD. I can't win them all! But hey, if I were batting .800 in the MLB, what do you think I would get paid?

    It's a reference to the XVlll Airbourne Corps that they are a part of.

    A huge sum, commensurate to your overall merit. Ain't that the way MLB works, Chris? wlw
