My son loves cephalopods (squid, octopus, cuttlefish, etc.). I have found some world coins that contain images of cephalopods in Krause's Standard Catalog of World Coins but don't know how to go about purchasing them. Can anyone give me any info on how to purchase the coins below: 1. Iceland, 1981, 10 Aurar, KM # 25, reverse has squid on it (Krause says cuttlefish (he is wrong)). Would purchase the individual coin but prefer the mint set that contains it (KM # MS 12). 2. Marshall Islands, 1993, 10 Dollars, KM # 410, reverse contains 2 Sperm Whales, 1 fighting a squid. Want to purchase the individual coin. 3. Tuvalu, 1976 or 1981 or 1985, 50 Cents, KM # 6, Reverse has octopus on it. Would purchase the individual coin but prefer the mint set that contains it (KM # MS 1). Also, I have looked through Krause up to the 1999 Standard Catalog of World Coins. Have any world coins been issued since then that contain cephalopods? If so, please send me the details and also, if possible, purchase information. Thank you so much for your help!
I would also check yahoo, but, for twice the fun I think I would buy them by the pound and search my self. Just a thought A2J
Of course, when you buy them by the pound and search, you can find lots of other things worth collecting. Have fun!!!!
There's a good world coin dealer in California named Joel Anderson. He is the first one I would check for those issues if it were me looking for them. Google search for his site if you like.
